A spacecraft is launched to Alpha Centauri, carrying a human and an android aboard. Throughout the journey, the connection between the two evolves from sex puppet to emotional desire, white knight, antagonistic, hatred, savior, love, repentance, and loss. Stoya, a well-known porn star, plays the android, and there are numerous long sequences of ardent desire. The plot is rather barebones, and the science is stupid, but the human wrestles with the mental baggage that has led him to seek isolation in lengthy solo space trips. The android strives to develop human emotions and self-awareness.
Overall, it’s a little better-than-fair watch if you’re pulled to the romantic part of it; the sci-fi end is weak on the science but makes an attempt, and considering how the FX were shot, I’m thinking a cheap budget and a ‘less is more’ approach. The information they do present you is acceptable. I get stuck at the conclusion when the shot extends out from the ship, and I’m not sure if the objective is lost or if I’m reading the shot properly. Overall, it is at least comparable to some of the best moderate budget Si-Fi products.
