The Housemaid (2010) Storyline :
A impoverished Korean lady named Eun-yi (Jeon Do-yeon) accepts a position as a domestic helper in the opulent house of a beautiful businessman named Hoon Goh (Lee Jung-jae), whose wife Hae-ra (Seo Woo) is expecting a child. Eun-yi rapidly picks up the customs of the home, including the fact that Hoon’s word is final, under the guidance of Byung-sik (Youn Yuh-jung), her new employer, seasoned worker, and family confidant. However, the advantages of Eun-yi’s new status are overshadowed by the consequences of her actions when she gives in to Hoon’s seduction.
Review of The Housemaid (2010):
The most intriguing aspect of their home, in my opinion, was its architecture. From the Great Pyramid-like appearance to the interior’s striking contrast of modern glass and steel to the delicate wallpaper in shades of gold and blue from the South Seas. The living room’s whole 20-foot wall was adorned with a gorgeous, understated black sunken fireplace, with a single, long, low seating area right below.
The youthful, affluent owners and the long-standing custom of having servants also mirrored the disparities in the architecture and interior decor. And here’s where the action happens. The housemaid regarded the head housekeeper, a middle-aged lady who had worked for her husband’s parents and reared him despite being treated like a servant, as her future partner. She would never be one of them. Continue to be apart.
The movie’s finale, along with the stunning performances of all the performers, made it one of the most unforgettable and eerie films I’ve ever watched.
