So the title (together with the video cover) might be considered as deceptive. Sybil Danning fights off a few of assailants at first and later decapitates one with her sword, but that’s about it. Her role, the Roman emperor’s mistress, talks very little in this film. She appears unhappy with what is going on around her and periodically yawns, perfectly matching the audience’s sentiments! Donald Pleasence, the ruler of Pompeii, is ridiculous; if Sybil doesn’t talk enough, Donald talks too much, and at least half of his discourse consists of the same three lines, repeated ad nauseam: “My lovely highness”. The rest of the cast includes Rick – – Hill, and a Lou Ferrigno-look-a-like, plus several attractive & hot women. The film has practically no plot; for 55 minutes, we watch these folks do nothing until Vesuvius erupts and Pompeii is devastated. This climactic disaster scenario is acceptable considering the film’s budget, although it is clear that stock material was used at several spots.
